    Motard racing

Hello all, I intro'd myself up top but this is where i would like to be. I want to start racing supermotard or mini motard. Not sure what would be the best option for me yet as I have been out of the game for a while. I am also a little apprehensive about taking on this sport due to lack of places to ride. How many tracks are semi close to Jackson/brandon, MS?

For those of you who race motards, what class would a 25yr. old 250lb guy be competitive and have fun just out there racing. I am in no way looking to win a season, but i would like to not be lapped during the race either haha. I consider myself a decent bike rider but with time and practice comes skill and wisdom. I just need to ride but I would like to buy a bike that will benifit the type of racing i want to do.

    What are yall's suggestions?

GAMRA is the mini-motard group but they probably aren't going to Jackson this year (they usually had one round a year somewhere around there). I don't think there is a local series or anything (it's kind of a niche thing) so you'd have to do some traveling to race. Check out http://gamra.us/ for more info. Full size motard racing is harder, not a lot of folks doing it on a local level around here that I know of. Oh and GAMRA is pavement only IIRC, no dirt sections.

It is a LOT of fun and pretty cheap (for motorcycle racing at least). Not sure what the current hot classes are but when I was there the 150 4-strokes and 85 2-strokes were pretty good classes (the big wheel Honda 150R is a sweet mini motard but I'm not sure if it's in the same class these days as the 85s and 150f's)
