Good write up Roy. Glad y'all had a good week and a couple of good days after we left. Thanks again for the journey in the rain! :lol2: :jk:
We went camping/riding from May 28th until June 3rd. We took the Bking, Sumo and Zuma. I rode 800 miles total between the Sumo and Bking, most were on the Sumo. I love that bike! Blood mountain was so fun on it. I had the footpegs dragging on it and busted a road reflector off the pavement on the left sideops: That bike is stupid fast and it might be making 32 hp
I rode with the ZRX rally guys up it and a few were on SV's which were still no match for the Sumo. I did loose the rear once in a sharp down hill right hander that sent me to full lock on it and jambed my right wrist badly. It is still sore today. I didn't crash (should have according to eye witnesses) but the kick out and up got my wrist. I blame it on the rear pilot power tire which is all but toast and I should have mounted a new one before I left. I did mount a new race front and the super grip of the front help me not go down but didn't help the snap on my wrist. That was about the only excitement for the week. We rode up to the Gap to watch the idiots and eat lunch one day. I rode to the overlook in 2nd gear on the Bkiing that is how stupid it is up there right now. My picture was taken at least 4 times by johnny law  I seen guys who got tickets for 5 mph over the speed limit, unreal!! We left there and twist and turned all the way back to Skeenah Gap. Suzi's butt was done by then on the back of the Bking. She is a real trooper and hung in there and hung on

Brad and Bernie were there Sunday evening and we sit with them and talked for a while. Had a few refreshments in the process. Monday we all planed on riding. So we headed over to Helen, Ga. for a lunch at Han's. On the way over it was nice weather going across 180 and Richard Russell parkway, damp in spots but no rain, yet. After Han's we went north out of Helen up over a pass I can't remember the name of right now but on the down side it began to rain so we bailed off on 180 past Brasstown bald entrance. By the time we made it to Wolf Pen gap on 180 you could not see the front end of your bike it was raining so hard. It got so bad I had to stop and put the Bking in "B" mode. I was stressed in "A" mode having to be gentle on the throttle in those hairpin curves and steep slick up hills. It helped a lot but I wish Suzuki would have made it like the GSXR's system and change it on the fly. Stopping is not always a good idea on the side of any road. Anyway we made it back to camp and me and Brad headed out to Dahlonega in the truck to get some groceries. Once we got back we all sit around the camp and grilled some brats and of course had some beer!!
Next morning they headed home and I pretty much went roaming on the Sumo from sun up till sun down. Never went off into the forest road system since it was real wet and I didn't feel up to the mess. I id ride some neat one lane paved stuff that went into a time warp so to speak. We partied with the ZRX bunch Weds. night and enjoyed their company. A few had motards with them but we all never seemed to go on a ride. They were always to busy going on big rides with the ZRX's. Me I just went on the Sumo all the time screw the big heavy bikes up there. Did see one crash, he came up to the rock pile on 60 and we were all sitting there waiting on the tailender's when he tucked the front in some gravel and went flying toward me sitting still  He was okay but the bike was rashed up good on the left side. The other crash was in the campground, a guy on a Concours 14 was cruising through when a pit bull dog whcih had got loose from his pen went after the guys leg. The guy tried kicking at the dog and speeding away but it was wet and the big concours lost the rear and did a 180 on the slick grass and rocks. Side bag busted off mirror broke off and it was rashed up good. Owner was furious but the dogs owner came over and told him to fix the bike and send him the bill. I would have done us both a favor and shot the dog right then and there, payment sent.![]()
It was so nice to have full RV hookups at the campground we never had to use the facilities there at all. The shower/bathroom in the camper is nice and roomy. Kitchen is easy to use. We only had to use their washer and dryer once. We did all of our cooking at the camper and only ate out twice. Compared to renting a cabin we saved about $400 total on the trip. It was so cheap I am ashamed to tell how little it cost to be gone a whole week even after buying $3 a gallon gas there and back. We are still way ahead verses renting a cabin and required living expenses. It is a good investment IMO even if you do have to buy a big truck to haul it all. That big truck darn near gets the daily commute mileage those Tacoma's were getting.
Anyway didn't take many pictures as usual. Too busy riding. Here are a few.
Campsite: yes that camper is level according to the levelers on it
Bking at the Deals Gap overlook:
Woody Gap headed home. That Tundra is one bad ass truck it had NO problem with those steep grades pulling 6000#. I am loving it!!!

:plus1: Great write-up! After hearing all your stories about the roads there, we're hoping to make N. Georgia the destination for our trip next year.
Glad you stayed on it when you lost the rear (sucks it jammed your wrist though). And I'm with you on the dog. A .40 cal hollow-point between the eyes and we'd call it even!
